Products produced for Sacred Medicine Sanctuary are made in small laboratories operated by dedicated herbalists who understand the plants and the proper ways to process them. Whenever possible, certified organic plant materials are used though some plants are consciously wildcrafted. A few are grown biodynamically, some are organic but not certified, and occasionally market conditions necessitate the use of an imported plant materials that might have been subjected to processes not generally condoned by conscientious herbalists. It is usually Chinese plants about which we have the most questions and concerns. In every case, even with the endangered species plants, every effort is made to assure continued availability, this by very careful wildcrafting or sourcing from farms where the plants have been cultivated to meet the demands for their use.
The alcohol used in tinctures is organic grain alcohol. We pay the extra to do our part to curb the spread of GMO crops. All honey and molasses used in the elixis is organic; the glycerin is both kosher and organic vegetable glycerin; and the water used in the products is usually distilled spring water or well water.
